Let’s face it, sometimes the neighbors are not happy about living next to a vacation rental. People go on vacation to gather with family and friends, socialize, let loose, etc.. 99% of guests follow the rules but a few may be disruptive or “push the envelope. ”
Below are some best practices:
- Communication – Introduce yourself to the neighbors and make sure they have your contact information. Neighbors can your eyes and ears!
- Technology – Install public facing cameras for surveillance. If you see 20 people carrying alcohol into your property at 8pm you can address before things get out of hand at 2am.
- Technology – Install a product like Noise Aware or Minut that measures decibels with indoor and outdoor sensors alerted you to excessive noise via an app or text message.
- House Rules – not only do the the rules go to the person securing the reservation but rules must be posted inside the vacation rental. Quiet hours along with consequences for breaking the rules must be posted for all occupants.
There is no perfect solution but communication, technology and clear expectations is a good start!
